Wonderful trails maintained by volunteers course throughout the Howard Buford Recreation Area in Springfield. While the days are still fine, a trek to the top of the park’s Swing Hill affords great views of the Eugene-Springfield area and beyond.

Hundreds of volunteers offer their services to Buford Park through the Friends each year. Now, with the capable assistance of University of Oregon intern Jessica Allison, those volunteers are in good hands! Jessica is earning her Masters Certificate in Non-Profit Management and will intern as Volunteer Coordinator with the Friends through 2011.
“I have a passion for connecting people and nature. As an intern with the Friends, I’m learning how to effectively manage volunteer resources, while providing rewarding experiences for volunteers and positive results for Mt.
