Recreation & Trails
Mt. Pisgah offers 17 miles of trails for hikers, trail runners, equestrians and other outdoor enthusiasts. About 100,000 people visit the park annually. Friends of Buford Park & Mt. Pisgah works with Lane County Parks to design, build and maintain trails at Buford Park.An Invaluable & Popular Community Destination

Most trails are open to both equestrians and hikers and provide a paradise for birders, botanists, photographers and nature lovers. A few trails are designted for hikers only. No bicycles or motoroized vehicles are permitted. Please stay on designated trails. Carry drinking water. Drinking water is available from the water fountain near the Mount Pisgah Arboretum parking lot.
Trail Maintenance
Friends of Buford Park & Mt. Pisgah participates in Lane County Park's Adopt-a-Trail program which facilitates volunteer groups in maintaining the trails at Buford Park. We have two trails we adopted and currently maintain, trail #7 and trail #17.
Our volunteer Trails Committee organizes seasonal work parties to maintain those trails and frequently hikes those trails during the year to note what work needs to be done. In particular we try to visit the trails during inclement weather to see how our drainage systems are functioning.
In general we plan maintenance projects in the fall to prepare the trails for winter rains and in the spring to repair damage caused by winter storms. Our Trails Committee meets several times during the year and at those meetings we discuss our observations of trail conditions and plan the work parties we conduct.
Email us for more information on how you can get involved with trail maintenance at Buford Park.
