Recreation & Trails
Compatible recreation is as important to Mt. Pisgah as protecting and enhancing it's natural splendor. This begins with good trails. A good network of trails can take park users through a variety of habitats and to awe-inspiring vistas while minimizing our impact on the nature and wildlife we enjoy.
Along with maintaing our adopted trails, #7 & #17,the Friends have embarked on two new trail projects, the brand-new South Meadow Interpretive Trail and the realignment of the existing Trail #3.

Hikers, equestrians, and naturalists all delight in the 17 miles of trails Mt. Pisgah offers. Hosting more than 250,000 people annually makes trail planning and maintaining a must. Friends of Buford Park & Mt. Pisgah works with Lane County Parks to design, build and maintain trails at Buford Park. |

Thank You, REI for your continuing support! |

| Over the past few years, the Friends and Eugene's local REI store have forged a valued partnership focusing on making Mt. Pisgah a great place to get outdoors. With their help, both through a force of volunteers and through grants, we've cleared invasives from trailsides and have layed tons of new gravel over well-used trails. | |

In September 2010, the REI store in Eugene was severely damaged by a fire. While the building was under repair, store manager Dean Meer (left) and REI employees turned their energy toward helping the Friends build a new trail in Buford Park's newly restored South Meadow floodplain. Design and construction of the trail was funded, in part, with a $5,000 cash grant from REI. |

Our newest grant from REI supports our Trail #3 realignment project. With their support park users will soon realize a mud free jaunt on the north slope of Mt. Pisgah. So next time you're in REI, tell them thanks for Pisgah! |
